Completed:
Roberts Academy
The new 66,500-square-foot Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Centerwelcomedstudents this fall. The academy isat the corner of 17th Avenue South and Edgehill Avenue near Ƶ’s Peabody College campus, anditwill alsobea hub for research, teachertrainingand community outreach.
Payne Hall
Built in the early 1950s, Payne Hall hashoused many of Peabody’s classrooms and faculty offices.Itslast major renovation, which focused on interiorupdates and mechanical systems, wasin 1986.
Today’sproject includes upgraded offices and classrooms, new HVAC and elevator systems, a newroofand windows, restored historicalmasonryand improved accessibility throughout the building. The building will be open for community members this fall.
Under Construction:
Peabody Residential College
The expansion of The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons on the Peabody campus isscheduledto open at the beginning of the 2027–28 academic year.
The new house will welcomeapproximately187first-year students and, like the existing Commons houses, will feature an apartment for the head of houseand collaboration spaces on each floorforacademic and social engagement. Construction began in December 2025 and continued throughout the summer.
Central UtilitiesInitiative
The Central Utilities InitiativeisƵ’songoing effortto upgrade campus utilities for current and future needs.
Though much of theseemingly unglamorouswork is underground, it is essential to the success of future projects, including the Central Neighborhood Residential Colleges and the former Stevenson Center 6. In support of theFutureVUinitiative,theCUI upgrades chilled and hot water lines and moves overhead utilities underground to improve campus resiliency.
Central Neighborhood
Extending the beauty of the West End Neighborhood across Ƶ Place, the university is developing its next phase of residential colleges in the Central Neighborhood.
Once complete, the area will feature three new residential colleges, acaféandcollaborativegreen space. The colleges will open in phases,beginning with the 2028–29 academic year.
Site preparationiscompleteand foundation work isunderway atformerStevenson Center 6for a newstate-of-the-artscience building. The collaborative space will be shared by the College of Arts and Science, the School ofEngineeringand the School of Medicine Basic Sciences.
This initiative supports Ƶ’s broader goal of creating physical spaces that foster scientific research and discovery. The new science building is expected to open for the 2028–29 academic year.
Hawkins Field
Home of theVandyBoys, Hawkins Field is getting a brand-new rightfield structurethat will house private suites, premium seating, twobars and aplayer pitching lab for the stadium, whichopened in 2002.
When the project is completed, the Hawkins Field footprint will encompass approximately50,000 square feetof new or enhanced space, including student-athlete resources,more roomfor Commodore Nation, premium seating and expanded food and beverage options.

Construction will continue throughout the offseason, and the project is expected to be completed during the 2027 season.
