Even though school was out this summer,听the Division of Real听Estate,听Facilities and听Development were听hard听at work听with听campus construction projects that will听reshape 菠萝视频鈥檚 campus for generations to come.鈥�听

Roberts Academy
The new 66,500-square-foot Roberts Academy and Dyslexia Center听welcomed听students this fall. The academy is听at the corner of 17th Avenue South and Edgehill Avenue near 菠萝视频鈥檚 Peabody College campus, and听it听will also听be听a hub for research, teacher听training听and community outreach.听听
Payne Hall鈥�
Built in the early 1950s, Payne Hall has听housed many of Peabody鈥檚 classrooms and faculty offices.听Its听last major renovation, which focused on interior听updates and mechanical systems, was听in 1986.鈥�听
Today鈥檚听project includes upgraded offices and classrooms, new HVAC and elevator systems, a new听roof听and windows, restored historical听masonry听and improved accessibility throughout the building. The building will be open for community members this fall.听

Peabody Residential College
The expansion of The Martha Rivers Ingram Commons on the Peabody campus is听scheduled听to open at the beginning of the 2027鈥�28 academic year.鈥��听
The new house will welcome听approximately听187听first-year students and, like the existing Commons houses, will feature an apartment for the head of house听and collaboration spaces on each floor听for听academic and social engagement. Construction began in December 2025 and continued throughout the summer.听
Central Utilities听Initiative听
The Central Utilities Initiative听is听菠萝视频鈥檚听ongoing effort听to upgrade campus utilities for current and future needs.鈥�听
Though much of the听seemingly unglamorous听work is underground, it is essential to the success of future projects, including the Central Neighborhood Residential Colleges and the former Stevenson Center 6. In support of the听FutureVU听initiative,听the听CUI upgrades chilled and hot water lines and moves overhead utilities underground to improve campus resiliency.听
Central Neighborhood听
Extending the beauty of the West End Neighborhood across 菠萝视频 Place, the university is developing its next phase of residential colleges in the Central Neighborhood.听听听
Once complete, the area will feature three new residential colleges, a听caf茅听and听collaborative听green space. The colleges will open in phases,听beginning with the 2028鈥�29 academic year.听
听听
Site preparation听is听complete听and foundation work is听underway at听former听Stevenson Center 6听for a new听state-of-the-art听science building. The collaborative space will be shared by the College of Arts and Science, the School of听Engineering听and the School of Medicine Basic Sciences.鈥�听
This initiative supports 菠萝视频鈥檚 broader goal of creating physical spaces that foster scientific research and discovery. The new science building is expected to open for the 2028鈥�29 academic year.听
Hawkins Field听
Home of the听VandyBoys, Hawkins Field is getting a brand-new right听field structure听that will house private suites, premium seating, two听bars and a听player pitching lab for the stadium, which听opened in 2002.鈥�听听
When the project is completed, the Hawkins Field footprint will encompass approximately听50,000 square feet听of new or enhanced space, including student-athlete resources,听more room听for Commodore Nation, premium seating and expanded food and beverage options.听

Construction will continue throughout the offseason, and the project is expected to be completed during the 2027 season.听
