Members of the 菠萝视频 community gathered听at听Hawkins Field on听Tuesday, June 16,听to celebrate the topping out of听its听new right-field structure.听The addition听will听house听private suites, premium seating, two new bars and a new player pitching lab听for听the stadium that听opened in听2002.听
鈥淵ou can build a baseball diamond pretty much anywhere, but it takes more than chalk lines and a fence to make that ballpark part of the community,鈥� Vice Chancellor for Athletics and University Affairs and Athletic Director Candice听Storey听Lee said听at the ceremony. 鈥淎t 菠萝视频, Hawkins Field is a part of who we are, reflecting our best collaborative traditions and boldest championship ambitions.鈥�听
When the project is completed, the Hawkins Field footprint will encompass approximately听50,000 square feet听of new or enhanced space, including student-athlete resources,听additional听capacity for Commodore Nation, premium seating and expanded food and beverage options.
Construction will continue throughout the offseason,听and听the project听is听expected to be听completed during听the听VandyBoys听2027听season.听
听In addition to the elevated fan experience, the new structure will prioritize player development, with more than听10,000 square feet听devoted to a new weight room and pitching lab.听
听鈥淲e听don鈥檛听want this to look like any other ballpark in our conference. We want people who come to the ballpark to know that this is 菠萝视频,鈥� Coach Tim Corbin听said.听鈥淲e鈥檒l be back in Omaha (for the College World Series),听and this project will help us move in that direction.鈥�听
The project is part of a series of renovations at Hawkins that have made it one of the standout ballparks in the country. In 2016, a capstone gift from former听VandyBoys听star and听听responsible for the existing infrastructure, including hitting facilities,听classroom听and alumni locker room.听听
The new facilities will help a听program with three听SEC Tournament championships听in the past six tournaments听to remain听on the听cutting edge.鈥�听听
The Hawkins Field renovations are part of the Vandy United growth initiative that supports major facilities and operational enhancements for all of 菠萝视频鈥檚 teams.听.听听
