Hiram “Hi” Lewis, BS’99, MEd’01, to receive Young Alumni Volunteer Award

Hiram “Hi” Lewis, BS’99, MEd’01, is the recipient of the 2015 Ƶ Alumni Association Board of Director’s Young Alumni Volunteer award.

Many will remember Lewis as a quarterback and, later, graduate assistant coach for the Ƶ football team. He was a valuable member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, is an avid supporter for both the Commodore football and baseball programs, and is a great ambassador for the university. As a volunteer for the student-alumni series Opening Dores, he has shared his experience in commercial real estate and life after Ƶ with undergraduate students. He has also offered professional advice as a VUconnect career adviser.

“As a student-athlete, coach, volunteer, and Alumni Association director Hi has personified what it means to be Ƶ for Life,” says Jonathan Glasgow, BA’98, awards chair for the Alumni Association Board. “He is a staunch advocate and valuable volunteer for the university and I look forward to his continued involvement.”

The Young Alumni Volunteer Award is presented annually to an alumnus/alumna age 40 or under with a significant, sustained pattern of volunteer service to the university that has positively represented Ƶ and its mission.

Lewis will receive the award in a ceremony held in the fall during Reunion/Homecoming 2015.
