Bluebird on the Mountain series launches sixth season May 22
The Bluebird on the Mountain concert series returns to ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ’s historic Dyer Observatory for its sixth season beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 22. Gates will open at 5:30. MEDIA ADVISORY: Commencement set for May 14 at ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University
Tradition and technology will each be a part of ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University’s annual Commencement on Friday, May 14. Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos will deliver the traditional Commencement address in a ceremony beginning 9 a.m. on Alumni Lawn. Undergraduates will receive their degrees after the chancellor’s address, while graduate and professional students will adjourn for their own 10:30 a.m. degree ceremonies. ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ is granting about 3,500 degrees this year, 1,600 to undergraduates and 1,900 to graduate and professional students. About 3,100 graduates are expected to attend the ceremony. Undergraduates will stay on Alumni Lawn to receive their degrees. Read MoreMay 13, 2010

Dyer Observatory to host ’Opera on the Mountain’ May 15
Nashville Opera and ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ Dyer Observatory are joining forces to present a unique evening of operatic music and star-gazing on Saturday, May 15. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. but doors will open at 6. The concert will take place in the observatory’s patio tent and guests are encouraged to bring a picnic basket and beverages. Special paid leave granted to flood victims in ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ community
As part of ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University’s broad efforts to assist in Middle Tennessee’s flood recovery, up to two weeks paid leave is being granted to faculty, staff and trainees whose personal residences were destroyed or otherwise rendered uninhabitable on May 1-2.
