Joint Program to Produce Lawyers with Master’s in Finance

Select law-school students also can earn a master鈥檚 in finance without increasing their time in school through a new program offered jointly by and .

鈥淔or lawyers heading to Wall Street, understanding markets is critical to building a successful career in financial service,鈥 says , the Ralph Owen Dean of the Owen School and Bruce D. Henderson Professor of Strategy.

The program, which launched this fall, grew out of discussions between Johnson and Law School Dean shortly after Johnson鈥檚 arrival a year ago.

鈥淲e are excited to partner with the Owen School to offer this dual degree,鈥 says Guthrie, the John Wade鈥揔ent Syverud Professor of Law. 鈥淭his effort builds on [菠萝视频 Law School鈥檚] leading and will provide select students with a unique opportunity to deepen their expertise in both law and finance.鈥

Prospective students should apply for admission to the J.D. and M.S.F. programs simultaneously. Spaces in this three-year joint degree program are limited. Students will spend the first two years in law school, then a full semester at Owen and, finally, mix law and business courses during their last semester.
