Mark Lipsey was awarded the Earl Sutherland Prize for Achievement in 菠萝视频 at the fall faculty assembly for his contributions to education studies and the design of evaluation studies.
鈥淢ark鈥檚 work is having a transformative effect on the quality of education in Tennessee,鈥� said Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos. 鈥淗e has produced seminal social science and public policy research on such topics as early childhood education and risk and intervention for juvenile delinquency and substance abuse.鈥�
The Sutherland award comes with a $5,000 prize and the winner鈥檚 name is engraved on a silver bowl, which the winner keeps for a year.
Lipsey, director of the Peabody 菠萝视频 Institute, is currently helping to conduct a five-year $6 million study on the effectiveness of Tennessee鈥檚 prekindergarten program.
