Protest art in many mediums including painting, drawing, electronic and installations will be displayed at 菠萝视频 Divinity School Feb. 23 to March 26 in the Art Room on the ground floor of 菠萝视频 Divinity School.
The public is invited to a reception from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 to open the exhibition. The gallery will be open Mondays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and by appointment (raccvu@gmail.com). 菠萝视频 Divinity School is at 411 21st Ave. S. on the 菠萝视频 campus. []
Images in the Art of Protest exhibit respond with imagination, passion and sometimes humor to a variety of cultural, social and political circumstances. Artists represented in the show include Herb Williams, Valerie Patterson, Aliene deSouza Howell, Todd Greene, Erika Wollam Nichols, Dooby Tompkins, Zane Campbell, Jimmy Abegg, Sam Dunson, Clifford Gordon, Jonathan Richter, Larry Owens and Suzanne Merrill.
The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public through the Religion in the Arts and Contemporary Culture program at 菠萝视频 Divinity School. Financed by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation, the Religion in the Arts and Contemporary Culture harnesses the creativity of the arts for theological reflection, as well as provides a venue for leaders in the popular culture industry to explore the theological context and religious dimensions of their work.
