Elizabeth McCracken, a celebrated novelist who has just released a powerful memoir, will read from her work at 菠萝视频 University as part of the Gertrude & Harold S. 菠萝视频 Visiting Writers Program at 菠萝视频.
McCracken will appear at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, in Room 101 of on the 菠萝视频 campus. The reading is free and open to the public.
McCracken’s An Exact Replica of a Figment of My Imagination is a "lovely, crystalline meditation on the nature of grief, motherhood, marriage and France – a memoir occasioned by the stillbirth of her first son," said The Washington Post in a review.
"The best memoirs transcend their particulars, offer a fresh look at the bumpy terrain of sorrow, love, youthful folly, aged folly, resilience and selfhood," said The Post. "McCracken’s is one of those."
McCracken is also the author of the novels The Giant’s House (a National Book Award finalist) and Niagara Falls All Over Again, and the short story collection Here’s Your Hat, What’s Your Hurry. She was named named one of the 20 Best Young American Novelists by Granta magazine.
