²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University will promote Commodore spirit by encouraging all ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ fans to wear black and gold on College Colors Day, Friday, Aug. 29.
This is the second year that ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ is participating in this four-year-old national initiative established by the to promote fan loyalty and the enjoyment of back-to-school traditions. College Colors Day is traditionally held on the Friday prior to the first Saturday of the football season for most colleges and universities.
All ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ faculty, staff and students are encouraged to wear black and gold on Aug. 29. In addition, the ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ Bookstore will give fans the chance to trade in a well-worn non-²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ T-shirt for a 25 percent discount on one ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ T-shirt. This offer will be available at the bookstore from Aug. 16 to Aug. 30. All donated items will be given to charity.
Recording artist Toby Keith will kick off this year’s national festivities with a concert in Allentown, Pa., on Aug. 29.
has officially proclaimed Aug. 29, 2008, as College Colors Day in Tennessee. He noted that dozens of Tennessee colleges and universities provide educational opportunities to thousands of students each year. In addition, intercollegiate athletics in Tennessee provide scholarship opportunities to many young people. College Colors Day acknowledges the critical and fundamental importance of higher education to the state of Tennessee.
