Students studying Japanese will have a chance to test their chops April 12 at Tennessee’s first-ever Japanese Speech Contest. The event will take place April 12 from 12:15 to 6:30 p.m. at Wilson Hall on the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ University campus. It is free and open to the public.
Nearly 50 students from universities across Tennessee and Kentucky have registered to compete.
The , in conjunction with the , in Nashville and the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ Institute for Public Policy Studies, is hosting the contest, which will be held annually.
Contestants will deliver three- to five-minute speeches from memory on a topic of their choosing in Japanese. All will be non-native Japanese speakers.
