Novelist Robin Lippincott to read from work at ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ; In the Meantime author will appear on Oct. 31

Novelist and short story writer Robin Lippincott will read from his work at ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ University.

Lippincott is the author of the new novel , which follows the intertwined lives of three friends for six decades from a small Midwestern town to Manhattan. He also wrote Mr. Dalloway, a daring novel that appropriated the style, language and even some of the characters of Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway.

“Lippincott has a particular knack for the shorthand that develops between people who have been together for a long time, and he portrays the complicated bonds between friends and lovers without sentimentalizing them,” said The New York Times of In the Meantime.

Lippincott will read at 8 p.m. Oct. 31 in Room 126 of Wilson Hall on the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ campus. The event is free and the public is invited.

The reading is part of the Gertrude ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ and Harold S. ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ Visiting Writers Program for the fall semester. It will be recorded for podcast on VUCast, the website of ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ News Service, at www.vanderbilt.edu/news/.
