Acclaimed poet Robin Becker, poetry editor and contributing editor for The Women’s Review of Books, will give a public reading from her work at ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University.
The Nashville community is invited to the free reading 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in Room 102 of Buttrick Hall on the ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ campus, near Sarratt Student Center.
Becker, professor of English and women’s studies at , has published seven books of poetry. The latest, Domain of Perfect Affection, was released in 2006 by the .
“Robin Becker achieves what may be one of the early 21st century’s most difficult accomplishments – to write a credible poetry of affirmation,” said Pulitzer Prize-winning poet . “In the doing, she doesn’t pretty up the world. Rather, she finds language that embraces our dualities, our many-selved presences, regularly demonstrating her kind of perfect affection.”
Becker’s poems and book reviews have been published by American Poetry Review, the Boston Globe and Ploughshares. Becker has received individual fellowships for poetry from , and the .
