²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ University’s campuswide day of remembrance Monday honors Virginia Tech Hokies

(VSG) is sponsoring a campuswide day of remembrance Monday, April 23, during which students, faculty and staff are being encouraged to wear the colors – maroon and orange – as a symbol of remembrance and hope.

Orange and maroon ribbons will be distributed on the promenade level of the Sarratt Student Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. At noon, the bells in Kirkland Hall, the main administration building on campus, will toll 32 times in remembrance of the victims of last Monday’s shootings on the Blacksburg, Va., campus.

VSG will also have a table at Sarratt Student Center where members of the community can express their sympathy and support for Virginia Tech by signing a message book that will be sent to Virginia Tech’s student government. The leather-bound book, which includes the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ seal, will be available for signing on the Sarratt promenade Friday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For those who cannot sign the book during these times, the book will also be available at the Sarratt welcome desk.

Members of the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ community also attended and participated in a memorial service held for victims and survivors on Wednesday, April 18. The local chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association planned and hosted the service held at ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ’s Benton Chapel.
