, former astronaut and retired major general with the U.S. Marine Corps, will share his experiences Friday, April 20, at 1 p.m. at ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ University’s Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center.
The event is free and open to the public.
Selected by NASA in May 1980, Bolden became an astronaut in August 1981. He has flown four space shuttle missions – two as a pilot on space shuttles Columbia and Discovery and two as a commander on space shuttles Atlantis and Discovery.
Bolden retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2004 as a major general and his last duty was as the commanding general of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical science from the and a master’s degree in systems management from the .
