NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ministers and others interested in combating domestic violence may attend a seminar on Feb. 9 hosted by .
The “Ignorance is Not Bliss: Violence against Women and What Ministers Need to Know” seminar will offer instruction on how to help victims of domestic violence. A panel of experts will explore why violence against women is considered acceptable by some, how religion contributes to and challenges that acceptance and how to care for victims of violence.
Panelists include , director of the ; , E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament; , assistant professor of pastoral theology; , associate professor of homiletics and New Testament; and , Charles G. Finney Professor of Homiletics, chair of the and Fellow in the .
The seminar will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Divinity School in room G-23. A reception will follow in Tillett Lounge at the Divinity School. Both are free and open to the public.
