Constance Rice‘s Jan. 15 lecture at ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University cancelled; Bishop Joseph W. Walker III to give MLK Jr. Commemorative Series keynote lecture

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Constance Rice, co-founder and co-director of The Advancement Project, a public policy and legal action group, has cancelled her speaking engagement at ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University on Monday, Jan. 15.

Rice was to give the keynote lecture for the university‘s 2007 Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Series scheduled Jan. 15-23.

, pastor of , will instead deliver the address at the keynote event Monday, Jan. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ‘s Benton Chapel. The will perform prior to his talk and a candlelight vigil will follow his remarks.

Walker began his pastorate at Mount Zion in 1992 with 175 members. The church‘s membership has now grown to more than 19,000. Outreach magazine identifies Mount Zion as the second fastest growing church in America. Under Walker‘s leadership, Mount Zion‘s ministry has expanded beyond its original location in the historic Jefferson Street corridor to seven weekly services in three locations.

He also has eight weekly television broadcasts and one daily radio ministry. These broadcasts air across the United States in Shreveport, La.; Baton Rouge, La.; Nashville, and internationally on (TBN) on which he is featured as a regular host and guest.
