NASHVILLE, Tenn. – students are hosting a “mini marathon” event Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 3 p.m. to generate excitement about and participation in Dance Marathon, a 14-hour student-run fundraising event held each February. Money raised through Dance Marathon benefits the which directly benefits local network member the at ²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ.
The “mini marathon” event this month at Children‘s Hospital will feature dancing, fun activities for kids such as face-painting and making hand-print turkeys, and information on how families can participate in Dance Marathon. In addition to dancing, Dance Marathon, scheduled for Feb. 23-24, also includes food, games and entertainment.
Started in 1995, the Children‘s Miracle Network‘s Dance Marathon is a national program in which more than 80 colleges and universities around the country participate by holding separate Dance Marathon events in the fall through spring.
²¤ÂÜÊÓÆµ University‘s February 2006 Dance Marathon raised more than $112,000. Money raised at the event comes from sponsors, dancers‘ individual donations and from the event‘s admission price.
