A U.S. government class from Nashville’s Stratford High School will join ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ students in watching returns for the Tennessee primary on Tuesday evening, Feb. 10. The viewing party, sponsored by the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ student group VanderVotes, will also seek to register new voters for Tennessee from both the high school class and the University.
The event begins at 7 p.m. in McTyeire Hall on the ²¤ÂÜÊÓƵ campus. VanderVotes is teaming with the Stratford students as part of a mentoring program seeking to increase voter registration and political awareness among Nashville youth. During a three-day registration drive in December, VanderVotes registered 60 new Tennessee voters at the University.
VanderVotes is conducting University-wide viewing parties for the primaries each Tuesday evening through March 2.
